FACE 2 FACE

$800.00

30x40” original acrylic on canvas. Completed in 2024.

This piece is named Face 2 Face bc every time I sit down in front of a canvas, I am forced to look at myself. I am forced to listen to what's going on inside my head which can be very challenging, but it's something I love. Also because a big theme in this piece is conflict, which usually involves being face to face w/ something. The wolves on the left and right sides represent the internal conflict we face in life, my pastor at my church inspired me with a story he told in his sermon a couple months back. Basically he said "the wolf that is fed is the one that will ultimately prevail" ( aka the thoughts we feed are the ones that will manifest). The hand at the top with the eye, for me I think represents a unified perspective. Non-duality perhaps. The hands holding the chalice intended on symbolizing giving and receiving / contribution and offerings but now I'm also getting "you reap what you sow". It also is a symbol of communion. For the colors of the chalice I wanted them to feel feminine and fluid. Imma be honest, the teeth are up for interpretation lol.. I think that's going to be whatever you feel like they mean is what they mean haha. When I start a something, usually the message shift as it takes form, and l think that's kinda what happened here.
