THE HIVE

$20.00

The Hive 12” x 15” acrylic on canvas

This piece is about the intricate complexities of mother nature. The queen bee can live up to 5 years and when she can no longer do her job, the hive will replace her. The reason why you see hexagons in bee hives is because the shape is useful for storing pollen and honey as well as the queen bees eggs. Honey bees are the only inspect that produce food for human consumption. They have 5 eyes, 2 compound and 3 simple eyes. They have an exoskeleton, all the internal organs float in the fluid we call blood. They can only sting once, and when the sting enters it is attached to the venom sac and that is ripped out when the sting is used, so they die. Nature is awesome.
